Planning a wedding can be an incredibly rewarding and memorable experience, yet it can also be stressful and overwhelming. In retrospect, my wedding was nothing short of a beautiful, joyous occasion and I wanted to share some advice and insight to other couples embarking on their wedding planning journey.
My relationship with my husband, Matthew, started in high school. We had crushes on each other, developed a strong bond and ultimately found ourselves on the journey to forever together. Our four years of togetherness have been filled with shared experiences, joy, love, and endless laughter. Matthew proposed to me on a cozy, breakfast-in-bed morning on September 3, 2022, a day I'll remember forever.
Fast forward to the wedding day - an experience so exhilarating, the highlight being standing at the altar with Matthew at Brookwood Community Chapel. The ambience, the intimate space, everything felt just perfect and aligned for us.
The wedding dress quest ended with finding the perfect ensemble at Brilliant Bridal - a dress which was sophisticated and elegant without a train and also covered my arms and chest, just like I had wanted.
Capturing moments is an integral part of the wedding day, and my advice to other couples would be to focus on the photos you want taken of yourself, your partner and your family. Our photographer was brilliant, friendly and put us at ease. All the moments, right from the time we were getting ready until the reception party, were captured beautifully.
To mitigate any last-minute rush or unexpected scenarios, I advise other couples to hire a wedding planner. A wedding planner not only eases the pressure of organizing every single detail but ensures the day runs smoothly.
A wedding day is, without a doubt, emotionally loaded. However, I had no anxiety during our wedding. Of course, there was a tad bit of self-consciousness when being the center of attention. Riding together with Matthew in the same car to the wedding definitely helped me feel calm and grounded.
Lastly, food at the wedding plays a crucial role too! We had our reception at Perry's Steakhouse, where our guests relished a splendid menu of filet mignon, chicken, pork chop, mashed potatoes and asparagus.
In conclusion, remember to keep your wedding true to yourself as a couple, make it about what you love, want and are comfortable with. Wishing you a journey of planning filled with love and joy and a wedding as unique as your love story!
